Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS), the Metro Area Nashville Chamber of Commerce, and Sage Leadership Partners, Inc. are collaborating on an innovative education initiative, focused on real-world business, teaching and learning connections. This partnership is a key part of the MNPS’ Small Learning Community redesign efforts, integrating the professional experiences of Nashville’s executive leaders into digital learning opportunities for students and teachers.

This project will mobilize over 100 of Nashville’s business leaders to share their personal and professional career experiences for the benefit of students. This project uses digital media and digital service learning as the platform for Nashville students (middle school through college) to learn from and apply the compelling stories of highly successful leaders.

Specifically, the partnership:

  • Mobilizes Middle Tennessee’s leading professionals to share their stories and career insights for the benefit of students (i.e. volunteer 45 minutes for an onsite interview to share information about their profession, career pathway, and provide real-world advice for students);

  • Mobilizes Middle Tennessee's leading college students and high school seniors to interview successful professionals throughout the Middle Tennessee region;

  • Creates a searchable bank of interviews that are open sourced, i.e., they become part of a centralized, searchable streaming media database, accessed by students throughout the world;

  • Provides access for MNPS to a global library of other interviews that are created in other partnerships around the world.

Sage Leadership Partners has already secured the future participation of over 200 of the world’s leading professionals and scholars to participate in this initiative, including 7 Nobel Laureates and 34 MacArthur Fellows.
